Notice

The decision to grant a visa rests with the Provisional National Commission for the Issuance of Visas (CNPOV), which sits in Kinshasa. The CNPOV takes into consideration the purpose of the intended travel as well as the compliance of the submitted application with Congolese regulations governing the entry, stay, and movement of foreign nationals.

Processing times vary depending on individual cases. Applicants should therefore not assume that their application will automatically be approved for visa issuance. It is strongly advised that applicants do not purchase any non-refundable airline tickets before obtaining their visa.

Visas issued by the Embassy are valid for a maximum period of six (6) months. Visas with a longer duration are issued within the country by the Ministry of the Interior (General Directorate of Migration – DGM) or, in the case of special visas, by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (State Protocol Directorate).
